A Nine Considers His Curses and Blessings

Curses: He either does not know what
he wants, or--when he does--forgets to
keep it at the fore, takes on desires
and agendas of others, lives their
lives, thinking their lives are his, merges
with all around him or sinks into
sloth and inaction, fritters away
precious energies in luxury,
in sense-dulling TV-watching, wine-
drinking, treat-eating, gets caught up in
mindless minutiae: drawn away from
the task at hand, he must straighten the
desktop and get all the paperclips
together before beginning the
poem dying to be written NOW,
not put off and forgotten.

                                Blessings:
When in touch with his authentic self
(he must find and re-find it again
and again) he lives from heart’s desire
and commits to that with diligence
and perseverance. An advocate
of the ALL, he merges with it here
and now, stands for the something that is
the tip of Everything/Nothing’s ice-
berg and expresses that Plenitude
of Emptiness clearly in this world.
